Car workshops

In car workshops and service centres, floor screeding for garages must stand up to heavy loads, lifting equipment, fluids and constant traffic. We specify robust screed mixes and integrated moisture control to protect both the structural slab and the final floor finish — ensuring long-term performance under tough conditions.

  • Heavy-duty screeding designs for point loads and lift mounts.
  • Good chemical and oil resistance when combined with suitable coatings.
  • Options for integrated falls to drains and anti-slip finishes where required.

Our floor screeding for garages process

  1. Survey & assessment: We inspect the existing slab, measure levels and check for moisture or contamination.
  2. Preparation: Surface cleaning, priming and edge formwork to ensure a strong bond.
  3. Installation: Trained operatives lay screed to specified levels and tolerances.
  4. Curing & quality check: Correct curing times and flatness checks before any topping or coating is applied.
  5. Finish options: Advice and application of coatings or decorative finishes as needed.

Materials, tolerances and maintenance

We offer cementitious, polymer-modified and fast-drying screeds depending on project needs. For commercial garages and showrooms we adhere to stricter floor flatness tolerances and can deliver rapid-setting screeds to reduce downtime. Regular cleaning and appropriate protective coatings will extend the life of any screeded garage floor.

FAQ — Floor screeding for garages

How long does floor screeding for garages take to cure?

Curing times vary by screed type and thickness. Fast-drying screeds can be trafficked within 24–48 hours, while traditional cementitious screeds may need several days to weeks. We’ll recommend the right option to balance speed and durability.

Can screeding be applied over an existing concrete floor?

Yes. Floor screeding for garages is commonly applied over existing concrete after preparation — cleaning, keying and priming — to ensure a durable bond.

Is a screeded garage floor suitable for car lifts?

Absolutely. For workshops and service centres we design screeds to accommodate lift point loads and embed plates where required.

Commercial Garages, Workshops & Showrooms

Commercial garages demand strong and durable flooring capable of withstanding heavy traffic, equipment, and operational activity. Screed is commonly used in these environments due to its strength, versatility, and professional finish.

Advantages of screed in commercial settings:

  • High compressive strength for supporting vehicles and machinery
  • Seamless, smooth finish that enhances workshop or showroom presentation
  • Minimises dust and debris compared to unfinished concrete
  • Excellent base for industrial coatings like epoxy or polyurethane
  • Compatible with drainage slopes and surface falls for easy cleaning
  • Reduces wear and tear on tyres and tools with even surfaces

Resin floor / Line marking – Service garage – Wellingborough – 1000㎡

We were appointed by Vauxhall Wellingborough to re-surface a 1000㎡ garage floor. We applied 2 coats of an LFS oil tolerant epoxy primer. After which, we applied our LFS High Build ( a 2 component coloured Epoxy Resin floor coating ), which is non tainting solvent and phenol free. Grey for the majority of the surface and red for the MOT bay.
