Case Study: Resin flooring : Barn conversion, Northamptonshire

Liberty Floor Solutions was commissioned to install an epoxy resin floor in a barn conversion in Northants.

Resin floor at a barn conversion in Northamptonshire

We recently completed a new resin floor as part of a barn conversion project in Northamptonshire. The existing floor needed careful preparation before the resin system could be installed, so we started by thoroughly cleaning and preparing the concrete surface, removing any contaminants and addressing areas that needed attention. As with all our projects, the preparation was an important part of achieving a strong, durable finish, and you can find out more about our floor preparation process on our dedicated page.

Once the floor was properly prepared and ready to receive the coating, we applied several coats of resin to build up the finished resin floor covering. Each stage was carefully applied to provide a hard-wearing, easy-to-clean surface with a neat, consistent appearance. The complete installation was carried out over approximately 2–3 days, allowing sufficient time for the different coats to be applied and cured correctly.

Preparing the floor for resin

Good resin flooring starts with good preparation. Before any resin was applied, the existing concrete floor was assessed and prepared to provide a suitable surface for the new coating. This stage is particularly important because resin needs a properly prepared surface to achieve good adhesion and provide a long-lasting finish.

Once the preparation was complete, the resin system was built up through several coats. Applying the system in stages allowed us to create a durable resin floor coating that was suited to the requirements of the converted barn while also giving the floor a clean and attractive appearance.
