We were brought in to carry out extensive concrete floor preparation for a new padel facility in Northampton, covering approximately 3,000㎡ for 12 new padel courts. The existing industrial concrete required mechanical treatment before the next stage of the installation, with the aim of creating a clean, sound and suitably keyed surface throughout the facility.
The foundation of every successful installation is professional floor preparation. Concrete floors are rarely ready to coat, so we used industrial diamond grinding equipment and specialist dust extraction to remove laitance, weak surface material, contaminants and other residues. Our substrate preparation can also involve removing old coatings, adhesives, bitumen and embedded fixings where necessary.
Industrial concrete floor repair
As part of the work, worn expansion joints, cracks and damaged areas were repaired using suitable epoxy repair materials. Fixings from previous racking and shelving were also removed, with the affected areas made good and blended into the surrounding concrete. This created a consistent surface ready for the subsequent flooring installation.
For large commercial projects, we use specialist equipment designed to deliver consistent results across substantial floor areas. Our machinery includes three-phase industrial diamond grinders, heavy-duty generators, professional sanding equipment, specialist diamond attachments and industrial dust extraction systems. The diamond grinders remove weak and contaminated material while creating the mechanical key needed for strong adhesion.

The 3,000㎡ floor was tackled systematically in sections, allowing grinding, repairs and cleaning to be completed progressively across the facility. The overall timescale depended on access, the condition of the existing concrete and the amount of remedial work required. Once each area had been treated and cleaned, it was ready for the next stage of the installation.
