450㎡ laboratory flooring at a biological testing facility in Islip, near Kettering

We completed a 450㎡ resin flooring installation for a new biological testing facility in Islip, near Kettering, Northamptonshire. Specialist laboratory flooring needs to provide a durable, practical and easy-to-clean surface, making a professionally installed resin system a suitable choice for demanding commercial environments.

As experienced resin flooring contractors in the UK, we began by removing four layers of existing floor paint using specialist diamond grinding equipment. Once the concrete was exposed, the surface was thoroughly cleaned and prepared for the new coating system.

Preparation and resin application

Effective substrate preparation is the foundation of every installation. Concrete floors are rarely ready to coat, particularly in existing commercial premises, so mechanical preparation is often required to remove previous coatings, contaminants and weak surface material. Our floor preparation process creates the clean, sound surface needed for good adhesion and long-term performance.

Following preparation, the resin system was installed in a series of carefully controlled stages. The prepared concrete was first thoroughly cleaned and checked before the primer was applied. Once the primer had cured, the subsequent resin coating was applied evenly across the 450㎡ floor, followed by the specified finishing stage. Each stage was allowed to cure for the required period before the next application, helping to achieve a consistent and durable finish.

Our guide to laying epoxy flooring explains the typical sequence, from substrate preparation and priming through to coating application and curing. We have invested heavily in professional flooring equipment, including 3 phase industrial diamond grinders, heavy duty generators, professional sanding equipment, specialist diamond attachments and industrial dust extraction systems.

The work was completed as a planned commercial installation, allowing sufficient time for preparation, the individual resin application stages and curing before the facility was brought into use. The finished surface provides a practical solution for the new biological testing facility and is designed to withstand the demands of a busy laboratory environment.

We also provide commercial flooring for a wide range of demanding environments where durability, cleanliness and ease of maintenance are important.
