Flooring contractor using an industrial hoover

About this project

About this project

We completed approximately 450㎡ of professional concrete floor preparation at a new refrigerator hire warehouse in Bolnhurst, Bedfordshire. The concrete was mechanically prepared using specialist diamond grinding equipment, removing laitance and weak surface material and creating the mechanical key required for the subsequent resin coating system.

As experienced resin flooring contractors, we know that the foundation of every installation is professional floor preparation. Concrete floors are rarely ready to coat, and effective, thorough substrate preparation is key to what we do on every job. Once the main grinding process was complete, we re-cut the existing expansion gaps to ensure the joints were clearly defined and ready for the next stages of the installation.

The prepared surface was thoroughly cleaned using industrial dust extraction before being left ready for priming and the application of the high-build topcoat. This type of mechanical grinding and preparation is particularly important in demanding commercial environments, helping resin floor coatings achieve the adhesion, durability and longevity required for regular warehouse use.

Professional substrate preparation

A diamond grinder is a heavy-duty machine equipped with diamond-segmented blades or discs, used to level, smooth and clean concrete surfaces while removing laitance, contaminants, previous coatings and weak surface material. Without proper mechanical preparation, no coating system will bond correctly. Our floor preparation process is therefore an essential part of every installation, rather than simply a preliminary stage.

We have invested heavily in specialist flooring machinery and equipment to ensure every installation meets commercial standards, with much of this equipment used during your installation. Our equipment includes 3 phase industrial diamond grinders, heavy duty generators, professional sanding equipment, specialist diamond attachments, industrial dust extraction systems and full PPE equipment for safe operation.

Once preparation has been completed, the next stages can include priming and applying the specified resin system. Our guide to what’s involved in laying epoxy flooring explains how careful preparation, priming and coating work together to produce a durable finish. For this Bolnhurst warehouse, the prepared 450㎡ surface was ready for priming and the high-build topcoat, with the preparation work completed within the planned installation schedule.
