We were asked to take on the old Bells Trailers factory at Finedon Sidings, Northamptonshire, where the existing concrete slab was in particularly poor condition after years of heavy use and oil contamination. The first stage was thorough concrete floor preparation, using diamond-assisted mechanical grinding to remove contamination and weak surface material and create a suitable base for the new system. This was particularly important given the condition of the existing slab and the level of contamination present.

Following this work, we applied LFS Epoxy DPM Primer followed by a quartz scatter. Due to the particularly cold conditions, this was left for approximately one week to cure before we returned to install a self-smoothing compound at around 7–10mm thickness, using two Portamix mixers to achieve a consistent finish. After a further two weeks, we returned to cut new expansion joints. The customer was very happy with the finished result. As experienced resin flooring contractors in the UK, we understand the importance of using the right system and installation process for demanding industrial environments.

The foundation of every installation is professional floor preparation

Effective substrate preparation is fundamental to a successful flooring installation. We have invested heavily in specialist machinery, including industrial diamond grinders, professional sanding equipment and industrial dust extraction systems, allowing us to prepare challenging concrete floors to the required standard.

A diamond grinder is used to remove laitance, contaminants and weak surface material while creating a suitable profile for subsequent applications. Our floor preparation service is tailored to the condition of the existing floor and the requirements of the new system.
