We recently completed a 42m² LFS epoxy flake flooring installation at a garage in Ullesthorpe, Leicestershire. The project involved transforming the existing concrete floor into a clean, durable and attractive garage epoxy floor using our decorative epoxy flake system. The customer chose our Comet colour combination, creating a smart finish that works particularly well in a garage or workshop space.

Preparation was an important part of the installation, with the 42m² concrete floor mechanically prepared using diamond grinding. This removes surface contaminants and loose material while creating the mechanical key needed for the resin system. Once the floor had been prepared, several coats of resin were applied before the decorative flakes were broadcast into the system. The installation was then completed with two matt sealer coats, providing a durable and easy-to-clean finish. The work was completed in approximately 1–2 days, allowing for preparation and curing times between coats.

Epoxy flake is a popular choice for residential garage flooring because it combines the practical benefits of a high-build resin floor with a decorative finish. For more information about preparing a concrete garage floor, see our guide to garage floor preparation.

We also install car workshop flooring, making epoxy resin suitable for a range of automotive environments as well as domestic garages. Where a garage is being developed as part of a wider garage fit out, an epoxy floor can provide a practical foundation for storage, shelving and other garage design ideas.

A durable and attractive garage floor

The Comet epoxy flake finish used on this project provides a decorative alternative to a conventional painted concrete floor while retaining the hard-wearing qualities expected from a resin floor coating. The seamless surface is straightforward to clean and provides an attractive finish for a garage that is used for vehicles, storage, hobbies or general workshop activities.

Every garage floor is different, and the condition of the existing concrete is an important consideration when deciding on the preparation and resin system required.
