What is a self-levelling compound ?
A self-levelling compound is a type of floor levelling material that is used to create a smooth and level surface on an existing floor. It is typically made from a blend of cement, fine aggregates, and other additives that help it flow smoothly and self-level when poured onto the floor surface.
Self-levelling compounds are designed to be poured over concrete or other types of sub floor that may have uneven or rough surfaces. They can be used to level out minor imperfections or to create a completely level surface for the installation of new flooring materials such as tile, carpet, or hardwood.
The application process for a self-levelling compound typically involves mixing the compound with water to form a thin liquid, which is then poured onto the floor surface and spread out using a trowel or similar tool. The compound will then self-level, filling in any low spots or uneven areas on the floor surface.
Once the self-levelling compound has dried and cured, it provides a smooth and level surface that is suitable for the installation of most types of flooring materials. It is important to note, however, that self-levelling compounds should only be used as a surface levelling material and should not be used to provide structural support or to level out major flaws or defects in the subfloor.

What are the advantages of using a Self-Levelling Screed ?
Self-levelling screed is often used for the levelling of poor substrates in order to achieve a finer tolerance. ie: Provides a perfectly flat surface for fitting additional floor surfaces ( ie. preparing for fixed floor coverings such as, carpet , LVT flooring, floor tiles or engineered flooring.
- Fast & easy installation : Much faster than traditional screed
- Reduced drying times
- High strength : Stronger than sand cement screed. no reinforcement required.
- Thinner : Can be laid at much thinner than traditional screed.
- Smoother surface : Ready to take floor finishes
